St. Vitus´ Cathedral - basic camera survey

On the 18th of March 2005 we drilled a hole into the floor of the chorus of St. Vitus´ Cathedral, where, according to a series of geophysical measurements, a cavity was to be expected. 84 cm below the paving we actually found a hollow space. A candid camera was inserted into the drill hole of 38 mm in diameter. The camera was placed on an adjustable operating rod with attached laser measuring instruments. This system (see the scheme below) gave us a notion of the arrangement and size of the burial chambers. The data was used for the calibration of system no. 2 (an exploratory camera placed on a telescopic robotic arm with a range of more than 4 m from the axis of the drill hole).

1 - monitor, 2 - camera, lights and laser control, 3 - probe operation, 4 - drill hole, 5 - operating adjustable rod, 6 - lights on a moving ramp, 7 - exploratory minicamera, 8 - laser
